BEHIND THE SCENES AT CEDAR HILLS:

OUR STORY

WE HAVE BEEN THERE...

Get Started At Cedar Hills

Cedar Hills was originally used as a conference and retreat center for many years under the Episcopal Diocese of Cleveland. However, the Diocese sold the property to a successful private family. The desire of this family was always to give back to the community.

It is here that the property continues to be used as a faith based organization to help fight the opioid epidemic in all of Northeast Ohio. Therefore, Cedar Hills will remain a faith based initiative to help men with all addictions, not just drugs or alcohol - although, it is the majority of what we deal with. In addition, we help with mental or physical abuse, anxiety, depression, and many other self-destructive behaviors.
We want you to know that we understand your battle, many of our staff have also overcome various of the same addictions or self-destructive behaviors that we talk about. Most of them have numerous years of victory and have gone on to live successful meaningful lives. At Cedar Hills we believe that even our location will have an impact on the success of your adventure.

Yes, Cedar Hills is an adventure! Although it is very structured and you are held accountable for your choices and or decisions you will enjoy the atmosphere of acceptance without judgment and condemnation. You can go to other programs but the reality is that many of them do not deal with core issues that deal with dependency. After your detox period is over we would gladly welcome you and help you get back on course to a fruitful and productive life.

Please browse our website and review our facility to explore the grounds and location of what is in store for you. We are located in the beautiful hills of Northeast Ohio. It is a very calming atmosphere where you can feel the presence of God in the beauty of giant cedar trees as well as the nature trails that go throughout the 56 acres of property.

Our year long program will allow you to go through not only the seasons of nature but also the best season in life, YOUR victory! Please contact us for a preliminary phone interview as we want to make sure that we are offering you everything you need to fulfill the requirements to succeed.

A LETTER FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Cedar Hills is a faith based initiative religious organization, a school of Christian Religious Studies, a character development program and a recovery support discipleship program. Cedar Hills is NOT a detox center.

At Cedar Hills, we will get candidates that have a history of substance abuse or may be suffering from an addiction problem. However, we only accept candidates after they have gone through detox at another facility. When someone is interested in coming to our facility, we will start with a phone interview to make sure that they are a potential candidate for Cedar Hills. If someone has a medical need that requires 24 hour care, we are not that facility.

We use biblical teachings and principles that help the candidate get a biblical world view of who they are and that God has a plan for them. We are here to help them discover that plan. Our goal is to help guide you towards healing and self discovery.

Our program is modeled after a nationally known program that has been in operation for over 50 years. I am happy to tell you that I am a graduate and been on staff of such a program and know firsthand that this type of faith based initiative will have a much higher success rate than your standard 30, 60, 90-day program. Our program is a yearlong and will cover every necessary issue that deals with the reasons someone got into a life style of addiction. Addiction comes in more forms than just drugs or alcohol and we deal with all of those as well.

We create an atmosphere without judgement and condemnation, but we also hold the candidate accountable for his choices and actions. Our program is extremely structured as the day begins at 6:30 am with a wake-up call and concludes at 10:00 PM with lights out. We have a very unique structure of classes, work programs, chapel, study hall, worship and recreation all of which are under constant supervision. No one is to be alone at any time. The results speak for themselves.

Sincerely,

Pastor Mark J. Merlihan
